Slow internet connection

When my friend who has the same isp as me runs a test on speedtest.net, he gets about 6800kbps download speed and about 90ms ping, everytime.When I run the test, the results are all over the place. Last night I tested and got similer results as him, but an hour later I tested and got 900kbps download speed and 300ms ping. Right now I am getting 4500kbps download speed and 300 ping. What is causing it to fluctuate so much?? It is so annoying because while my connection is sometimes pretty good when playing games online, other times it is terrible. I was playing Gears of War 2 just now, and there was a 1 second delay between when i shot my shotgun and when the bullets hit the wall. No one else in the game was experiencing lag. Please help Slow internet connection
Someone on your street might be dling alot. That can influence your internet speed. Or somebody on your network is taking up the bandwith, or the total output power of the internet connection. Maybe your router is messed up. I doubt that tho. Maybe your cable company has older cable equipment, call them to have them verify that you are getting the speed you are supposed to be getting.Slow internet connection
I am pretty sure I should be geting 6800kbps download and 90 ping because that is what my friend consistantly gets and that is what I occasionally get (never higher).
Call and tell your cable company to test the speed. Then if they say your speed is less, tell them to make it the right speed.
