The thing I don't understand about Palin in 2012 talk...

I don't follow politics all that much, nor do I usually participate in discussion of politics here. There is one thing I don't understand though. In the past few days, the talk of Palin being in the running for the nomination in 2012 has been pretty consistent. And I just don't understand why any sort of effort is put forth in arguing or discussing it. Why? Well its simple. When the next presidential election rolls around this country will be in 1 of the 3 following conditions:better than it is nowthe same (unlikely)worse than it is nowIf the country is better off at that point in time, especially if its signifcantly better, do you honestly think anyone would have a chance against obama being re-elected?If the country is worse off at that point in time (compared to now), do you honestly think anyone would consider Palin to be capable of ''saving'' the country and thus worthy of the nomination?  The thing I don't understand about Palin in 2012 talk...
Palin comes off as an incredibly uneducated woman, I don't understand why there are so many people who like her. There are other, better choices in either party. Not to mention governor of a state that barely has the population of the county I live in doesn't exactly make her a great candidate. The thing I don't understand about Palin in 2012 talk...
I still don't understand why she was put forth as the VP candidate in the first place. A rock with a smiley face painted on it would have done better.
Palin is a female Dan Quayle and the thing I dont get about her and McCain are that they are all about being unconventional or Mavericks and being Washington outsiders. Come on its like having a Doctor do surgery on you if they're a medical outsider and think outside the box and dont follow conventional medical rules

Because the world is supposed to end in 2012 duh
Why is it even after the elections, we are ALREADY talking about the next elections, FOUR years away? I just want a break from politics now

As a liberal, I'm obviously a godless heathen. But assuming that there are some liberals out there, like myself, who believe in god I'm pretty sure that they pray consistently that Republicans are stupid enough to nominate Palin as their presidential candidate/sacrificial lamb against Obama in 2012.
Palin was supposed to steal Clinton voters (I'm still surprised people thought that cynical of a move would work) but that didn't happen. If the pundits are to believed (i'd like to see some numbers) Plailn in the end managed to rally the Republican base... and even that didn't seem to happen much in the last election.  2012 is a long ways off but I'm not at all sure what they expect to do with her when it comes to national politics.

[/QUOTE] That was conservative thinking, assuming everything would repeat itself (much like the Bush presidency). They assumed that people were rallying for Clinton because she was a woman. They made the mistake of thinking that the American people didn't care about the issues. As a result of this, Palin flopped. She was literally the laughing stock of the country. I do sympathize with her situation but I'm glad America wasn't dumb enough to drink the Kool-Aid.
She's a young, rising star in the party who appeals to base voters. Bobby Jindal (governor of Louisiana) is another who fits that profile. I wouldn't be at all suprised to see either one securing the Republican nomination in 2012.
well if the Republican conservatives really believe Sarah Palin can win in 2012 then i feel sorry for them because they must have been living under a rock for the past few months they put her up in 2012 and Obama will win by a landslide know matter what state the countries in .

I'm really not surprised McCain lost.
What if it comes down to Palin vs. Hillary? It'd be an overload of idiocy.
Why is there so much Palin hate? The media portrayed her as being stupid and ditzy. Why do people always think that Republican canidates are dumb because they have an accent, or believe in God, or are agasint abortion, etc? I'm pretty sure she wouldn't have been ready to be president this year, but in 4 years, sure she could be. Running for VP, she got a lot of exposure, it energized the party. It's a new, young, fresh face and she helped McCain. McCain/Palin was actually leading in the polls until the whole economic crisis happened. It happened on Bush's watch and people took it out on McCain since Bush is a Republican. If it wasn't for that, then McCain would possibly have won, thanks to Palin. Democrats were shook for a while after she was nominated the VP.
