Protesters to wear ';obama masks'; at USCCB meeting

the protesters are wearing Obama masks and holding signs saying ''thank you for your silence'' at a meeting of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. The Protesters say that the Bishops should have spoken out more forcefully in condemning Obama's support for abortion.too bad I can't find pics.Protesters to wear ';obama masks'; at USCCB meeting
Are they serious? The Catholic church was louder against Obama than any other Presidential candidate in history.Protesters to wear ';obama masks'; at USCCB meeting
Maybe the bishops thought the election shouldn't be built entirely around a single issue?
Social issues go to the sidelines when the economy gets pwned. As they should anyway.
Are they serious? The Catholic church was louder against Obama than any other Presidential candidate in history.
well it varies from Bishop to Bishop. But the protesters were also congratulating the more outspoken Bishops such as Archbishop Chaput (Denver, where the Democratic national convention was held) and Bishop Joseph Martino (Scranton, Joe Biden's town of origin). All the the whole body of the Bishops came out real forceful earlier this week in stating their opposition to the ''Freedom of Choice Act'' which Obama has told Planned Parenthood he would sign into law (he said this would be the first thing he would do as pres., so I guess promoting abortion and catering to special interest groups means more than trying to help the economy).
apparently there is a priest saying that parishioners who voted for ''barack hussein obama'' shouldn't receive communion until they go to confession. He says that voting for a pro-choice politician constitutes material cooperation in intrinsic evil,is he right? Well sort of, he might be going over his authority (I think the bishops are the ones who have the authority to say such things) but according to a note by Cardinal Ratzinger in 2004 voting for a pro-choice politician can only be done if two conditions are met: 1. You vote for the politician despite, not because of his support for abortion 2. there are proportionate reasons. In this case it is considered ''remote material cooperation'' and is tolerable.
I absolutely hate when politics and religion mix...
