Should I get surgery or wait to get surgery??

Well I have something called an inguinal hernia. It is a pulled muscle or something, and when someone has a hernia they have a bump below their stomach, which I have.The bump goes away when I lie down, and that means it is a reductible hernia. Now a reductible hernia can not become strangulated(I think, I am not 100% sure), if a hernia becomes strangulated that means I would have severe stomach pain and I could die if I wouldn't have surgery soon.
I think it's more likely to get a strangulated hernia if the bump does not go away when I lie down.So should I get surgery or wait to get it?? Do you think I will be alright if I wait to have surgery, or do you think I have a big chance of dying if I wait to get surgery?? If I had surgery they would put me to sleep, is it safe to be put to sleep while having surgery?? I thought I heard that anesthesia can cause allergic reactions. I did get put to sleep when I had my wisdom teeth removed though, so I wonder if they used anesthesia for that??
Should I choose the surgery where I am awake instead?? Would it be more safe??

the sleep thing is fine but i'd get a few opinions before getting surgery.

How about going to get it checked out and get a proffesionals opinion, its your best bet
When I was like 3 or something like that I got an operation because of that. It went fine, and I don't even remember feeling any pain. I say you should get surgery.

The hernia is sort of causing pain right now, but I wonder if I should go to the hospital or if I will be fine..
