Even Out of Office, Bush Could Block Inquiries

• WASHINGTON %26mdash; When a Congressional committee subpoenaed Harry S. Truman in 1953, nearly a year after he left office, he made a startling claim: Even though he was no longer president, the Constitution still empowered him to block subpoenas.

''If the doctrine of separation of powers and the independence of the presidency is to have any validity at all, it must be equally applicable to a president after his term of office has expired,'' Truman wrote to the committee.

Congress backed down, establishing a precedent suggesting that former presidents wield lingering powers to keep matters from their administration secret. Now, as Congressional Democrats prepare to move forward with investigations of the Bush administration, they wonder whether that claim may be invoked again.

''The Bush administration overstepped in its exertion of executive privilege, and may very well try to continue to shield information from the American people after it leaves office,'' said Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, Democrat of Rhode Island, who sits on two committees, Judiciary and Intelligence, that are examining aspects of Mr. Bush's policies.

• Chuck Norris vs God

who would win in a chess game?Chuck Norris vs God
Chuck is known for strength not intelligence so God (he wouldnt win a fight either)Chuck Norris vs God
God, he is ominent, powerful and just. And he has Angels backing him up. God can beat Norris in anything.
Chuck Norris would stare God in the face and say ''I win''. God would have to just take it and back off.
If God knows all, he will know how to beat norris, and he would know before hand that he would already win. Oh my god, no free will >_>
Chuck Norris is Chuck Norris. God stands no chance against him.
God. God can snap a finger and Chuck would be back in his mother.
What a stupid thread. It's already well known that Chuck Norris defecated God after eating 3 million tons of raw chili.
This has alread happened...don't you read your Bible?   *Emulates in the best pentecostal voice he can* From the book of Genesis''In the beginning, there was a chess board. And God said to Chuck Norris,''Verily, verily, I saw you move that pawn whilst I drank from holy grail!'' And Chuck Norris replied, ''No one calls me a cheater!'' and promptly round house kicked God in the mouth. A tooth of God then dislodged from his mouth and upon grew the Universe in the instance we now affectionally call the Big Bang.''
Question: When will this Chuck Norris thing end? Whatever the answer, it isn't soon enough.
just to remind people who the real boss is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLO1YIWQuXE
A chess game? God.A fight? Norris.
Well here's some facts about Chuck Norris. 1. The Boogeyman checks his closet for Chuck Norris every night. 2. Chuck Norris uses a nightlight, not because he is afraid of the dark, but because the dark is afraid of him.  3. There is no such thing as global warming. Chuck Norris was cold so he turned the sun up.  4. Chuck Norris doesn't sleep, he waits.  5. Chuck Norris can run around the world and punch himself in the back of the head.  6. Chuck Norris crossed the road. No one dares question his motives.  7. Chuck Norris grinds his coffe beans with his teeth and boils his water with rage.  8. Chuck Norris does not own an oven or a microwave because revenge is a dish best served cold.    I doubt God even God can beat that.
Chuck Norris, unlike God, actually exists, so I'll pick him. ;)
Chuck Norris, unlike God, actually exists, so I'll pick him. ;)
Don't turn this into a religious debate please. We're having fun.
Well, the reason Chuck Norris has no CTRL button on his computer is because he is always in control so he should be able to control who wins a chess game.

When Chuck Norris says it will end. There is nothing with some friendly apotheosis. And Chuck Norris really is better than God. He's Chuck Norris.

Either way, you'll need to talk to him/her in order to get signed up in the program so go talk to your counselor anyway.
Sorry dude, but you HAVE to go through your counselor in order to do dual enrollment.

If I were to write a symphony and try to market it, I would undoubtedly go unnoticed and make very little money, in contrast, if I were to write a stupid, simplistic, catchy pop song and have a pretty boy or girl sing it, it would become an instant success selling millions of copies (Rihanna).

I know perfectly well it's a business, but the fact they started watering down their music in order to sell doesn't change the fact that it's not good music anymore (thus they fail at making music).
I saw a bit of it, it blows. I really honestly don't care about fiddy cent.

666/2008= 0.33

Have you been seriously affected by the economy yet?

I have not been. Still work the same job, go to school, buy stuff, etc. I'm just glad gas has gone down like it has. What about you?Have you been seriously affected by the economy yet?
Same. Surprisingly (or not) things have actually gotten better for me.Have you been seriously affected by the economy yet?
Nope since I don't even have a job.
I've been doing fine but I have family members thinking of filing bankruptcy. There's some hardship out there for sure.
Not really, since I didn't have all that much money to begin with. My Aunt and Uncle were hit pretty hard and took some heavy losses on some stocks though.
nope, i don't have a job so nothing really effects that. my friend's family is going through hard time though. their poore i gues, it pisses me off the things that go on. they conplain thier waisting electroicty but a lot of times nobody is in a room thier tv is on. his mom is always going out(bar, club?)
How the **** do I know, I am still in school!
Things have gotten a lot better, I now live in a car rather than a box.

Not reallyI still have a job and I go to school full-timeParents work in health care so they won't really be effected by an economic slowdown either.
nope
You still work the same job, etc, but how much more of your money has been spent on gas over the past two years than previously?  How much more expensive are the products you buy as a result of increased shipping costs due to higher gas prices?  Those are rhetorical questions of course.I guess it's people who had money invested in any stocks that dropped who have been hit the hardest, and stock investment, often through one's own work, is actually a significant part of many people's retirement plans.
